Even though we believe that General Gotovina’s life prior to his arrival in Croatia has no relevance to the accusations brought against him by the ICTY Prosecutor (and therefore did not deserve comment by us in the past on these types of allegations), the defence team of General Ante Gotovina nevertheless believes that it is important in this instance to point out certain illogical assertions that are made in tomorrow’s edition of Jutarnji List.

In his column, Mr. Cicak accuses General Gotovina of "unacceptable cowardice," for his failure to surrender to the Hague Tribunal, and alleges that General Gotovina is "unprepared to sacrifice himself for Croatia to the end."

Despite her statement on HTV last night, I am certain that Carla Del Ponte will in fact amend, and perhaps even withdraw, the indictment against General Gotovina. In particular, Madam Del Ponte is absolutely aware that her allegation that General Gotovina "ethnically cleansed" 150,000 to 200,000 Serbs from Croatia is absurd.
